Malayalam new generation director Aashiq Abu’s critically acclaimed box-office hit 22 Female Kottayam is now being remade in Tamil. Top yester year heroine Sripriya is making a comeback as director with this remake aptly titled Malini 22 Palayamkottai .
22 Female Kottayam was a powerful woman-centric revenge drama and the well-written role done by Rima Kallingal will be reprised in Tamil by Nitya Menen. The others in the cast include Krish Satar in Fahaadh Fazil’s role and Naresh who will do the mean villain role that Pratap Pothen made memorable in the original.
Malini 22 Palayamkottai will have music by Aravind-Shankar and camera by Manoj Pillai. Produced by Rajkumar Sethupathy for Rajkumar Theatres Pvt Ltd, the executive producers are Suresh Balaje and George Pius. Screenplay, Dialogues & Direction is by Sripriya.
At the media meet on Tuesday (July 9 ) evening at Vani Mahal in Chennai, Sripriya disclosed that the film will be a bilingual in Telugu and Tamil and a Hindi version is also in the pipeline. She said that the subject of Malini 22 Palayamkottai is topical and universal which will connect with the audiences.
Nitya Menon, Krish, Naresh, Vidyu Raman and others spoke and finally producer Rajkumar Sethupathy announced a donation of Rs 10 Lakhs to Uttharakhand victims followed by his family members.
