Lootera Movie Chennai _Bhargavasharma.in

Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha starrer romantic period film ‘Lootera‘ which landed at theaters today has received a cold response upon its opening. The film which has wooed the critics, couldn’t pull crowd towards the theaters at least on its opening day Friday. The movie has recorded the occupancy are of around 30-35% in the morning and noon shows across the country with multiplexes performing better the single screens. The film is faring better in multiplexes everywhere but it is relatively poor in single screens.

Lootera has been directed by ‘Udaan’ fame Vikramaditya Motwane and stars Ranveen Singh and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles. The film has been produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap and Vokas Bahl and its music has been composed by Amit Trivedi. The film is made on budget of Rs35 crore and has been distributed by Balaji Motion Pictures.

Last week’s releases ‘Raanjhnaa’ too opened to the same response but improved rapidly over the weekend due to the positive word of mouth and terrific reviews. Lootera belongs to the same category as it offers the relatively different and romantic plot accompanied by bravura performances.

The film has recorded steady growth in its occupancy rate in the evening shows and keeping in the mind the trends, Lootera is expected to collect around 4.5 cr – Rs5.5 crapproximately at domestic box office on its first day as per early estimates.

Though Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Policegiri’ also released today but it has hardly gave an competition to Lootera as both the film offers different genres and concept and also belong to different circle of target audience. While Policegiri is a typical masala film, Lootera is romantic period film. However Policegiri is faring better at single screens in mass circuits but is disaster in multiplexes.

Lootera collections at box office are certain to rose over the weekend riding on the good word of mouth and reviews. The multiplexes in major urban circuits will perform the best.
